Céline Marie Claudette Dion is a talented singer and one of the most versatile artists and a great businesswoman. Her music is usually said to have retreated behind pop and soul conventions. International recognition was first achieved by her in the year 1980 and after that, she had to never look back. She became successful by following its own course. She had been registered as the second highest earning musician in world. With such wonderful power, success never left her and she pursued her career in music./p>
Childhood and Education
Dion was born on 30th March, 1968 in a large family in Charlemagne, Quebec. She was the youngest sibling among the 14 children to her parents. Her mother was a housewife while her father was a butcher. She has been raised as a Roman Catholic.
Music was very much a sophisticated part of her family and she focused on it right from her childhood. She was appeared publicly at the age of five in the wedding ceremony of her brother’s, where she had performed the song Du fil des alguilleset du cotton. In her parents’ small piano bar named Le Vieux Baril, she started to perform along with her siblings and she had composed a song collaborating with her brother and mother at the age of 12. After that, she became a famous singer.
Celine Dion became famous in the whole world when she participated in a competition in Tokyo by Yamaha World Popular and won the award of a Top Performer. Her song was also selected as the Best Song in the event. In 1983, she became the first Canadian artist to get the gold record in France. She represented Switzerland in 1988 Eurovision Song Contest and won the contest. Her idol was Michael Jackson and always wanted to become a dancer like him. In 1988, she learned English and launched her first English album Unison, which was highly influenced by soft rock music. Some of the songs in the album were: “Where Does My Heart Beat Now”, “If There Was Any Other Way”, “Unison” and “The Last To Know”.
All these songs had a very outstanding impact and usage of electric guitar. She was also featured in 1991 in the tribute to American Troops who were fighting Operation Desert Storm, Voices That Care. It was truly an international breakthrough for her when she duetted with Peabo Bryson in the film Beauty and the Beast, animated by Disney. She had earned the Academy Award for this song and the Grammy Award for the Best Pop Performance. In 1992, she had begun a self-titled album, which had elements of both classical and soul music. She had also released the Francophone album known as Dion ChantePlamodon.
She dedicated her third English Language album known as The Color of My Love to her husband, which had romance and love as the themes. Her fourth English Language Album named Falling Into You was launched in 1996. Some other well-known albums launched by her, are 1 fille& 4 types, Hiatus, One Heart and A New Day has Come. Dion continued to release her albums till 2014.
Celine Dion married her manager Rene Angelil in a ceremony on 17th December, 1994. They have three kids. On 14th January 2016, Angelil ceases to death due to cancer.
